Louella Givens
Harding #29 |
|
BESE District 2 |
|
|
|
If you live in
the Board of Elementary and
Secondary Education District 2,
your representative has been
Louella Givens Harding since
2003. During her time as BESE
representative, she has sought
to improve public education
through the following:
-
Raise
teacher pay to meet the
national average.
-
Reduce the
number of students in each
class, especially in
elementary school.
-
Develop
stronger pre-school
educational programs.
-
Reconfigure
funding formulas.
-
Promote arts
in education.
-
Evaluate
students realistically.
-
Strengthen
the bond between community
and schools.
-
Increase
board accessibility through
local offices and advisory
committees.

Louella
grew up
in New
Orleans
and has
been
giving
back to
her
community
by
serving
as BESE
representative
for two
terms--meaning
she has
sought
an
unpaid
public
position
with
high
responsibilities
twice
already.
Louella
is again
asking
for the
responsibility
of
tending
to the
educational
needs of
children
in
District
2.
Louella
wants to
protect
local
districts
from the
state
takeover.
Local
control
means
more
options
and
better
education.
If you
support Louella's
mission,
please
donate,
volunteer,
or
simply
vote for
her on
October
22!
